Indigo Tie-Dye for Adults

Tuesday, July 20, 2021

Supervisor: Dollie Boyd
BRING YOUR OWN WHITE 100% COTTON ITEM TO DYE

It is safe to say that indigo dye has stood the test of time. The oldest known fabric dyed indigo is dated to 6,000 years ago in Peru. It was certainly not limited to the Americas. The ancient civilizations of India, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Iran, and West Africa all have a history of using indigo dye. The Greeks and Romans valued it as a luxury product. For this class you will need to provide your own 100% cotton, pre-washed item to dye. We will teach you a variety of tying techniques to come up with different patterns. You will be taking your project home to rinse and wash.
