Education Coordinator (Paid/Part-time, 20+ hours a week) Rate: $11.50/hr

Join the museum staff and support our growing educational mission! The Moses Lake Museum & Art Center’s educational programs range from family based activities for all ages, to customized tours for school aged children.
Under the general direction of the Museum Manager, the Museum Educator carries out the museum’s educational mission and policies, develops, coordinates, teaches and directs educational activities both on and off-site; collaborates with staff, volunteers, guest instructors, and area educators to implement free and paid programs, including classes, camps, field trips, tours, drop-in and outreach activities; prepares, organizes and maintains classroom and supplies; assists during general museum sponsored events, opens and closes the museum, and processes sales and class registrations as needed.

The ideal candidate will:
  • Be passionate about both history and the arts
  • Love working with kids
  • Be comfortable working with a wide range of abilities and needs
  • Have a 110% can-do positive attitude
  • Be an excellent communicator and team player

Specific Skills: Some teaching experience is required. Must be proficient in a variety of visual art mediums (but mastery is not necessary).

Other: Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.

Terms of Employment: This position is allocated 20 hours/week on average. Must be available on a flexible weekday schedule, plus the first Saturday of every month, additional evening and off site special events as scheduled.

Program Overview

Volunteering at the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center provides the opportunity to interact with the public in an exciting and educational environment, while also supporting one of the Columbia Basin's major cultural institutions. Volunteers are museum ambassadors who greet and assist museum guests, engage visitors in exhibitions, and help behind the scenes and at special events. Volunteers are essential to the success of he museum, and their commitment and enthusiasm is vital to each visitor's experience.
