The search for the next Moses Lake city manager is quickly coming to an end. Thirty-one candidates filed applications for the position and that number was whittled down to eight candidates by the Prothman Company. The City Council reviewed the eight candidates and selected four of those candidates to move to the final interviews.
The City will host a reception for the community to meet the candidates from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday Nov. 18 at the Civic Center, located at 401 S Balsam St., Moses Lake. The candidates' names and where they are coming from will be released the week of Nov. 12. This will be an opportunity for citizens to meet and ask questions of the candidates. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.
Following the reception, the city will host candidate interviews on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The candidates will take part in three interview panels comprised of citizens, business owners, department directors and councilmembers. Following the interviews, the panels will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate with the councilmembers. After the interviews, the candidate chosen to move forward will undergo a thorough background investigation to make sure that the council has chosen the right person for the position.
The goal of the city council is to appoint the city manager sometime in early December with a starting date of early January. At the time of the appointment, the City will release the name of the new city manager.
